- Join Lachlan Mackay as he shares an update on the 1840s Smith/Larsen daguerreotype. This is the artifact featured in our August 3, 2022 lecture, "Hidden Things Shall Come to Light: The Visual Image of Joseph Smith, Jr." Lachlan will explore the history behind the historic daguerreotype that was tucked away inside a locket and passed down through the women of the Smith family. He will also share new evidence in support of his opinion that the individual featured in the daguerreotype is Joseph Smith, Jr. The live lecture was recorded on November 28, 2023 and was the final lecture in the Fall 2023 Lecture Series.
Great video!
Weren't most daguerreotypes
at the time mirror images?
And if so, couldn't the painter deliberately paint the buttons on the correct side?
Awesome. How come everybody thinks Joseph had blonde hair. His hair looks pretty dark to me.
Super interesting video. Thanks!
I would think at some point DNA analysis would clear up the question of skeletal remains. Descendants of these people to match to.
I thought the David Rogers portrait was a touched up daguerreotype. If it’s not, that would explain why they don’t match I guess.
Interesting update...Thank you for sharing!
So interesting, thank you for your research.
thank you for sharing your latest research on the picture
Thank you for the update!
Fascinating!
This is a pictures of Hyrum Smith, not Joeph Smith. This Dude couldn't con a multitude, let alone to get another man to give him his wife.
